چکیده

We propose a solution for detecting and summarizing human activities from a large amount of video. A video is divided into short segments(called stories), and a set of simple motion/image features are computed for each image frame. Prototypical elementary action patterns(called action events) is constructed by vector quantization on these features.A bipartite graph is constructed by taking stories and action events as nodes, and the co-occurrence relationship between them as the graph edges. We compute an optimal reordering of the video story and the action event nodes so that they are in maximum correlation with each other. The optimal mapping between the stories and action events leads to a grouping and ordering of the video stories into activity patterns. The corresponding ordering on the action events reveals their characteristic features. Experimental results are shown a hospital surveillance video.

A Machine Learning Approach to No-Reference Objective Video Quality Assessment for High Definition Resources

The video quality assessment must be adapted to the human visual system, which is why researchers have performed subjective viewing experiments in order to obtain the conditions of encoding of video systems to provide the best quality to the user. The objective of this study is to assess the video quality using image features extraction without using reference video. RMSE values and processing ...

Automatic video summarizing tool using MPEG-7 descriptors for personal video recorder

In this paper, we introduce an Automatic Video Summarizing Tool (AVST) for a personal video recorder. The tool utilizes MPEG-7 visual descriptors to generate a video index for summary. The resulting index generates not only a preview of a movie but also allows nonlinear access with thumbnails. In addition, the index supports the searching of shot similar to a desired one within saved video sequ...

Video Abstraction in H.264/AVC Compressed Domain

Video abstraction allows searching, browsing and evaluating videos only by accessing the useful contents. Most of the studies are using pixel domain, which requires the decoding process and needs more time and process consuming than compressed domain video abstraction. In this paper, we present a new video abstraction method in H.264/AVC compressed domain, AVAIF. The method is based on the norm...

Summarizing Motion in Video Sequences

In this paper I describe several techniques for summarizing the motion of foreground objects in video taken by a fixed camera and with a static background. Two of the techniques are image-based, and dependent upon an explicit background segmentation. A third technique fits action-lines to the video sequence, and requires no explicit segmentation. The results of the different techniques are anal...

Hand Gesture Recognition from RGB-D Data using 2D and 3D Convolutional Neural Networks: a comparative study

Despite considerable enhances in recognizing hand gestures from still images, there are still many challenges in the classification of hand gestures in videos. The latter comes with more challenges, including higher computational complexity and arduous task of representing temporal features. Hand movement dynamics, represented by temporal features, have to be extracted by analyzing the total fr...
